WHATS MAKES A LONG LASTING TROLLEY?
Our most successful products are not the ones where we move into a space and compete with other good products driving the price down, it’s where there is a gap and we can fit in. The trolley is a good example of this. Not unlike the muff couplings but for opposite reasons the garden pot trolley market has been beaten down to a price level where a good quality product simply could not exist. For the most parts, with a few exceptions, all you can get is a plastic base with super cheap wheels. From a commercial position these items are manufactured to a cost that made the retailers interested, not to satisfy the customer requirements. (More detail on this HERE)
This is what led us to manufacturing our own version. We too had a need to relocate our pots and parts. Like most people we went out and bought the “usual” products and found they just don’t last.
Frustrated, but being an aluminium foundry, we decided to design our own version. Like all the products we manufacture for ourselves we over engineered it. It was great, the base alone can hold ~500kgs. We use a multi stage cleaning, degreasing and etching procedure for powder coating that our large customers demand for their engineering products as well as offering an anodised model. The wheels took longer to find as we knew what we wanted but just couldn’t find it. Most of the polyurethane wheels with bearings are made for chairs and 3″ We eventually found a small family run supplier in Taiwan manufacturing a 2″ shielded double bearing polyurethane wheel and this was exactly what we are after. The shielding helps keep dust out, the bearings make the travel silky smooth and the polyurethane wheel is non damaging to expensive surfaces.
Fast forward a few years and we opened our online store selling fencing brackets and spears. We have had a few friends ask for their own trolleys so we added the pot trolley thinking it would be nice but too costly. What we’ve found is our customers are of the same thinking in that they just wanted a product that worked over time even if it costs bit more, but you got something for it, it was worth it.
As of 2025 our pot trolleys are the biggest selling item on the website and we’re proud of our humble little trolley. We started with the 34cm and at the start of 2026 we’ll have 6 models all the way up to 57cm. We even have plans for a 75cm monster
Aluminium is 99% recycled. It’s strong & light. Widely used in the automotive, aerospace and infrastructure because of longevity and outstanding properties
Our trolleys are designed and manufactured in house to last decades, not months. We use the best material for the base, wheels and coating. If we find a better alternative, we’ll use it!
These Taiwanese wheels are fitted with 2x shielded roller bearings. This guarantees long life performance and smooth travel. The polyurethane wheel allows indoor use over expensive flooring
All of our powder coated parts are chemically etched and degreased prior to application ensuring the best adhesion possible. We use the same coating system for our trolleys as we do for our large multinational customer requirements.
